A Natural Wedding Cake

A Natural Wedding Cake

What would you do with a natural wedding cake? As a cake lover I have always enjoyed every aspect of eating a wedding cake. The moistness, the taste, the assortment of cake decorations and of course the butter cream or fondant are all the reasons why I love it. But lately I’m starting to see the trend of a natural cakes increase especially via Pinterest where we have a page. Let it be known now that I do not think that Pinterest is the beginning or end of trends for anything, but I cannot be delusional to think it has nothing to do with trends. So seeing a natural wedding cake from those we follow we have to take note.

Maybe it’s a means to cut down if a couple is on a diet or diabetic or just doesn’t like the entire sweetness wedding cakes offer. I wouldn’t dare say it’s a means to save money as there are far better ways to save money at a wedding than depriving a wedding cake of its frosting. Besides fondant and butter cream from an experience baker can be molded and placed to create some of the most appealing and mind-boggling desserts we have ever seen. Bakers have made placing icing on a cake into an art. Just look at Buddy Valastro from the hit TLC show Cake Boss. When looking at these rustic type natural wedding cakes I can truly see that when placed with the right items such as fruit it can really be just as appealing as any cake with icing. If you are open to this type of cake but aren’t sure how your guests will receive it, I’d recommend trying this at smaller events that has both a natural cake and one with icing and see what the consensus is. Either way I wouldn’t be surprised if our next client asked for a natural wedding cake at their cake tasting.  Would you try this?
